New criterion, sub-category for this year's Entrepreneur of the Year Award
SINGAPORE: The annual Entrepreneur of the Year Award (EYA) is back for its 27th edition. Co-organised by the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (ASME) and the Rotary Club of Singapore, it honours local entrepreneurs from both established and emerging enterprises.
This year, a new criterion called the “Entrepreneurial Journey” has been added to the judging framework. It takes into account the entire process of enterprise building and development, analysing both the various challenges and achievements that have moulded the entrepreneurs.
Award co-chairman Mr Thomas Fernandez said he was inspired by the journey experienced by some entrepreneurs that had told him their story, but there was no weightage or points given to that aspect.
He said: “This year around, the committee decided that we should recognise the entrepreneur who has a great story to share so that others who are participating or others who want to be, to enter the entrepreneurial journey, can learn from it.”
In addition, another Award sub-category - The Venture - will be introduced. It seeks to recognise entrepreneurs who establish enterprises that make positive contributions to society. This is on top of the EYA for Social Contribution category which honours entrepreneurs who engage frequently in corporate social responsibility.
