FRIDAY, July 1st 2016 – Organised by the Association of Small & Medium Enterprises (ASME) and the Singapore Armed Forces, the SAF Day Combined Rededication Ceremony 2016 saw 108 business owners and NSmen pledging their continuous support towards national defence. Held at the recently launched SAFRA Punggol premises, the event was graced by Minister of Health, Mr Gan Kim Yong.

This is the eighth SAF Day organised by ASME and the third time the association has been assigned to the North/North East Zone. For the last eight years, ASME remains the leading organisation that has gathered over a hundred entrepreneurs, industry professionals and uniformed men and women for the rededication ceremony.

An advocate of national defence, ASME continues to engage the local business community and NSmen in reaffirming their commitment towards upholding the safety and security of our nation, its relevance greater today, given the recent spate of terrorist attacks that have occurred around the world.

ASME President, Kurt Wee expressed that while the nation is fortunate to enjoy peace and prosperity today, its people must not take for granted what the forefathers and successive generations have toiled for decades. Mr Wee also attributed the nation’s success and stability to the contributions of uniformed men and women, recognising their relentless hard work in keeping the country safe.

The event concluded with LTA (NS) Jerry Chang (Dy 54, 486th Battalion, Singapore Armoured Regiment) leading the audience in the SAF Pledge and National Anthem. Participants were thereafter invited to a lunch reception, viewing of the SAF Static Displays, as well as free admission for all facilities at the brand new SAFRA complex.
